Using donations wisely to enhance student learning is a key focus of the Fulton Public Schools Foundation, and classroom grants are a cornerstone of our giving. Each year, Fulton Public Schools educators can apply for grants that bring innovation, expanded learning opportunities and unique experiences to their students. The program began in the 2007-08 school year, after the Foundation board asked teachers and administrators what the school budget wasn’t able to fund.
“The yearly grants provide teachers with a resource to explore new and innovative techniques in their pursuit to maximize student growth and success. It is clear from the support of the Foundation and its members that investing in our future through today’s students is a priority.”
Dr. Ty Crain, Superintendent
Three Kinds of Grants
Classroom GrantsFor certified Pre-K through 12th grade educators
Our core grant, open to every certified educator in Fulton Public Schools. We suggest requests of $500 or $1,000, though other amounts are considered. Grants fund innovative classroom or schoolwide projects and equipment the school budget can’t stretch to cover.
Ed & Jean Avra High School History GrantFor Fulton High School history educators
Named for Ed and Jean Avra, this grant supports projects that bring history to life for students in grades 9–12.
Pat Jones Foreign Language GrantUp to $2,000 for elementary language instruction
Through the generosity of Pat Jones, up to $2,000 is available for foreign language instruction for elementary students in grades 1–5, whether English Language Learners or native English speakers learning a new language. Instructors may include high school or college students, parents or community members who are proficient in the language.
Grant Guidelines
- Projects should support the instructional curriculum, encourage academic achievement and enhance learning opportunities for students.
- Projects may take place during or outside the regular school day. Staff and extra-duty stipends aren’t included in grant budgets.
- Projects may be submitted for individual classrooms, grade levels, departments or buildings.
- Before budgeting for field trip transportation, check with your principal. The district may already cover short curricular trips, which frees Foundation funds for other projects.
- Everyone involved in carrying out a grant, staff and volunteers alike, is subject to the district’s background check.
- Continuation grants can be awarded for up to three years.
- Recipients exhibit their project and results at the Foundation Gala, with one free ticket per grant.
How to Apply
All three grants use the same application. Applications are due at Central Office by 4:00 p.m. on the Tuesday after the Presidents’ Day break, and recipients are notified in early April.
